Virgins

My daughter had a friend spend the night last night and they camped out in the studio outside.  Nestled in the woods in their sacred cabin I found them, still sleeping at high noon, even with sunlight beaming down on their faces:  two 14 year old sleeping virgins (I think).  Precious, radiant, special, delicate and innocent to their nature. Their heads are probably filled with insecurities and typical angst. But I was able to see them in their rare and temporary state. We are all virgins to seeing ourselves for who we really are. Do we surround ourselves with mirrors who reflect our lower selves?  Who in your life reflects to you that which is beautiful, sublime, rare? How do we love ourselves from that high place?

Powerful message from Lola

"If it's not here, you're not letting it in. The Universe is not holding it back from you. Reread the book. You'll get more each time. You might be broadcasting contradictory intentions. Or you're not allowing a certain feeling to be felt. Or you haven't gotten your worthiness. Don't keep asking, just ask for release of resistance." Lola Jones

Operation FLOW

waterflow

I’m sticking with this idea of flow. In the physical realm, it seems to be a moment in time when the lake is dried up, the riverbeds are dry, the plants are dying and the rain is not falling. For some of us, the money is dried up, the love is dried up or the ideas are dried up. Nothing is flowing on the outside which can definitely seem like you are not “in the flow.”

I say let’s juice it up. Circulate money, spread love, share ideas, contribute to the flow. That’s what currency is all about. Tell a juicy story, get someone wet with a water hose, give money away to someone on the street corner. Take any ideas you are hoarding and give them away. Become a fountain of love so everyone within a few feet of you will get splashed.

10,000 Hours

I am sipping on Malcolm Gladwell’s book, the Outliers.  I get one chapter a day, read while standing at Book People.  Yesterday it explained what Bill Gates and the Beatles, two successful phenomenon have in common.  Get this:  Both spent over 10,000 hours perfecting their gifts.

Unknown to most people, seven years before the Beatles ever came to the US, they played typical one hour gigs in London.  Then they got a gig that required them to play for seven hours at a time, frequently!  This gave them an extraordinary amount of time to perfect their craft.

Bill Gates had a situation where his Mother helped to start a Computer Club in school where Bill then spent an extraordinary amount of time.

10,000 hours seems to be the magic number of mastering something.  These “overnight” successes should be called “many-years” or “manynights” successes.  Just think, there is almost a formula for success, beyond talent, circumstance and opportunity.  It’s not what you do everyday that counts, it’s what you do all day everyday that counts.

Hello

It is the dead heat of summer in Austin, Texas, in what many are calling an economic recession. I say it is high time for some FLOW. So I am starting this blog, doing my part and letting the wet, juicy, cool currency of love-infused words pour forth. Hello to my blog....
